So you’d like to make your own lamp? DUBIOUS!
You’ll need to start from the roots of roots, which means heading over to the CAD Files Directory and downloading “Crumpled Paper Lamp Base Model” under Base 3D Starting Model for Editing.
We start with this “base model” that you’ll be using to create your own folds and curves for the lamp:

You’ll need to press on the Edit Point Display (_EditPtOn) and tap on the object and then press enter. You’ll get points on the intersections on the object that you can then drag around and displace.

Then select either single points or groups of points and move them around. Up, down, left, right, just give it a try and see what you think feels right.

Next, you can also twist these groups of points around as this actually gives the crumple look. It’s okay if the curves aren’t super sharp because it is likely that sharper corners can often fold into each other and make the CAD difficult to understand whether the object is a fully closed polysurface or not.

Continue to do this with all the points on the object until you reach a desirable crumple effect. Remember to have fun experimenting, but keep it realistic and printable! If you do it right, you’ll get something that looks like this:
